Overview
Faxing, Alphanumeric Paging, and the Internet The Internet is a vast collection of information. In addition to its size, the information on the Internet is often spoken about in terms of 'real time access', as it is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ASP gives the Web developer tremendously powerful and easy to use tools to organize, present, and deliver information to the Internet. In doing business on the Internet, situations ultimately arise when you want to deliver information off the Internet. For example, this information might be a food order, hotel reservation, or purchase order. To deliver this data in 'real time', fax in particular is a tremendous resource. It compliments traditional Internet services such as email and the Web, allowing an order to be placed on an e-commerce web page at say 1:00 pm and a fax with the fulfillment and payment information arriving at the customer's order desk by 1:01pm. Customers are no longer required to check their email to monitor orders; they are delivered directly to a fax machine. Alphanumeric paging from the Internet presents many options and services. For example, sales leads can be generated from a Web site and delivered directly to salesmen in the field. The contents of the alphanumeric page can include the lead's phone number, so the salesman may call back immediately. In conclusion, with ASP and ProtoFax, Web developers and e-commerce sites can integrate faxing and alphanumeric paging with their Internet services, allowing them to offer their services to more types of customers, while utilizing the same hardware.
