Another feature of ProtoFax is sending email to alphanumeric pagers. The ProtoFax Server software can retrieve or receive email via a network connection and transfer the email to a paging service through a fax modem connected to the machine. The paging service then delivers the email to the alphanumeric pagers. ProtoFax can either retrieve email from an existing email box, or you can create an email box on ProtoFax and receive email directly on the ProtoFax Server, without a need for an external mail server. Below is an example of configuring ProtoFax to check an existing email box and send its contents to an alphanumeric pager. The following example uses the ProtoFax POP engine. You can also use the ProtoFax SMTP receiver. Before proceeding, this is a summary of the information that you will need: POP User Name
POP account password
POP server address
Pager Service Name
Pager Service Terminal
Phone Number
PIN number
With the above information, proceed with the following: Objective: Check an email box and send its contents to an alphanumeric pager. • Open the ProtoFax Server
Administration.
ProtoFax will countdown, retrieve any email from the email box that you specified, and send it to the pager you specified, utilizing the pager service and PIN information. Be sure that the mailbox that ProtoFax is checking has mail in it! |
