ProtoFax v4.0 Release

ProtoFax v4.0 is the next generation Internet Fax Server. The first version of ProtoFax was released over 4 years ago. ProtoFax v4.0 represents several years of listening to the customer and developing features that get the job done. Improvements over ProtoFax v3.1 include:

New!  ProtoFax Console
The ProtoFax Console is a new management application for the ProtoFax server.  You can easily manage ProtoFax whether you have it installed as a service or desktop application.  Configure ProtoFax services, users, and fax queue, all from the same easy to use interface.

New!  Scanner Directory Features
The ProtoFax scanner directory now supports both portrait AND landscape formats.  Additionally, it will accept other file types in addition to text and HTML

New!  Support for More Faxing Hardware
ProtoFax v4.0 includes a new next generation multitasking fax engine that supports both Class1 and Class2 fax modems, in addition to Brooktrout, NMS and Gammalink faxing cards.

New!  SQL Connectivity
ProtoFax's new database engine was specifically designed to connect to MS SQL, allowing for even tighter integration between ProtoFax and your other applications. Initiate a fax from within SQL!

New!  Open Architecture Database Formats
The ProtoFax user base, document queue, fax queue and transmit log now default to the MS Access format.  Or you can change the default and ProtoFax can use other data providers, such as MS SQL.

New!  Email Features
The ProtoFax email engine now supports both portrait AND landscape formats.  Additionally, it will accept other file types in addition to text and HTML

New!  Optimized for Windows 2000 and Windows XP performance
ProtoFax v4.0 has been optimized to run on the latest operating systems while maintaining compatibility with Windows NT, ME, 98 and 95 systems.

New!  Enhanced Printer Driver
Improved user interface and support for Windows 2000.  Now supports Windows XP. Includes support for Windows address books so you can share your Outlook and Outlook Express contacts.  New cover page editor.

New!  Enhanced Threading Model
ProtoFax v4.0 maintains the great fault tolerance of v3.1 while expanding upon it and dedicating new threads to the enhanced services.  Scanner, POP and document rendering now run on their own threads, which provides even better performance.

We've also added many smaller enhancements based on user requests such as the ability to archive sent faxes, subject line keyword parsing for SMTP messages, and much more.
